The Oxford Guild is delighted to be hosting supermodel Edie Campbell on Thursday 14th May (3rd week). We are excited to continue this term’s focus on fashion by welcoming to Oxford this week, Edie Campbell, supermodel and one of Britain’s most recognisable faces in the world of fashion around the globe.
Since she was first brought to the fashion world’s attention when she was barely 18 in a Mario Testino shoot for British Vogue about up and coming Londoners, Edie Campbell has steadily climbed the fashion ladder to become one of the most sought after models around. Mario later used Edie for the lead Burberry campaign alongside Kate Moss, enabling her to gain representation with VIVA London and Paris.
Having already appeared in campaigns for Burberry, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney to name a few, she has walked the runway for Burberry, Hermès and Thakoon and was given the ultimate accolade by Karl Lagerfeld when he asked her to close Chanel’s spring/summer 2012 couture show.
Campbell was named “Model of the Year” at the prestigious British Fashion Awards in London, December 2013. The award was presented to her by top fashion photographer, Tim Walker, who has collaborated with her on many occasions. In 2013 Campbell also made her journalistic debut, writing a piece for Harpers Bazaar UK. Campbell has also been named as a Contributing Editor for the A/W 2014 issue of Love magazine.
Off the catwalk Campbell is a regular on the international party scene as well as being a keen equestrian, winning the Magnolia Cup at Glorious Goodwood last year and having previously done so back in 2011. Campbell is a Young People Ambassador for The Reading Agency. She supports the MyVoiceUK programme which creates reading and writing experiences for and by young people. Her personal style is quintessentially English with an eclectic twist; favouring trousers over skirts, and flats over heels, she gets that boy-meets-girl aesthetic spot on every time.
This is a unique opportunity to hear from an extremely high-profile figure who has a key role in shaping British fashion and about her life at the heart of the fashion industry. It is not one to be missed for anyone with an interest in fashion or with a desire to pursue a career in the industry!
ALL WELCOME! There will be an opportunity to ask questions and there will also be photos, drinks and nibbles after the event. DO NOT MISS OUT!
